Always follow your dreams

Fear keeps many of us from pursuing our dreams, not just the fear of failure, but also the fear of success. Not everyone can handle the responsibilities of fame and earning lots of money. But the biggest fear of all is not being able to maintain that same level of success and having to face the people who doubted you in the first place. I say, to hell with them, dare to be somebody! It’s crowded at the bottom not the top!

Don’t waste a moment of this beautiful night entertaining negative people or focusing on anything petty. Be above that…be positive…strive to be impeccable!

Time is something you can’t get back. Once it’s spent, that’s it! You can’t buy it; you can’t scheme your way into more of it, and you can’t go back in time to change what you said or did. That’s why you have to live life to the fullest with no regrets and make the best of everyday day.

The New Year is an opportunity to reflect on our missteps and commit to improving our lives. What we do from this day forward will determine how happy, successful, and healthy we will be in 2013 and beyond. Remember all the things you promised yourself to do and stick with it. If you have a dream to start your own business, write a book, record a CD, travel more, or to get rid of negative people in your life, stop procrastinating and do it!

Drawing on over a decade of performance background, Red Hot Annie turned her attentions to burlesque in early 2008. Over 400 performances later, her award-winning blend of candid comedy, shameless sexuality, and character-driven storytelling has made her one of the most recognizable and visible faces in Chicago. Whether she’s painting, sweeping a set of luxury feather fan through the air, or gleefully twirling a pair of tasseled pasties, Red Hot Annie’s sure to make the wieners boil!

In July 2008, Red Hot Annie paired up with Dick Dijon to form Vaudezilla (voted Best Burlesque by Chicago Reader 2011), a production company that has become a major force in Chicago by redefining the burlesque bar show and setting a new standard for burlesque variety shows. Red Hot Annie began teaching burlesque in 2009 and currently teaches basic, intermediate, and semi-private classes at her own Vaudezilla Studios. She also serves as one of the Executive Producers of the Windy City Burlesque Fest since its inception in 2010.

Red Hot Annie’s impact in Chicago is undeniable, as evidenced by her numerous interviews (TimeOut Chicago, The Chicago Reader) and appearances on Check Please, WGN radio, WCIU television. How to make pasties

Oh, you tease. Or will in a pair of these.

What you’ll need:
Paper and pen
Water glass
Buckram (8-by-8-inch piece)*
Scissors
Fusible webbing (8-by-8-inch piece)**
Fabric of your choice (8-by-8-inch piece)
Iron and board
Hot glue gun
Extra-large-eye needle (or upholstery needle)
String sequins, roping, or lace for trim
2 tassels

1. Trace the glass’s mouth to create a pattern.

2. Draw a radius from the bottom to the center of the pattern.

3. Lightly trace the pattern on your buckram (the radius, too). Don’t cut the pattern out yet (you still need to add webbing and fabric) but trim buckram slightly so it’s a manageable size.

4. Cut pieces of the fusible webbing and fabric that are slightly larger than your buckram.

5. Be sure the shiny side of webbing is face down on the buckram and press the iron for ten seconds at a time (follow manufacturer’s instructions). The paper should peel off easily (leaving the buckram shiny). Save the paper.

6. Place the fabric between the gluey side of the buckram and the remaining paper. Press the iron for ten seconds. Remove paper.

7. Cut the pastie from your pattern lines, including the radius.

8. Make a tiny triangle of glue along one side of the radius and overlap the two edges to form a slight cone. Cut off any excess glue after pastie dries completely.

9. Repeat for second pastie using pattern (and make sure pasties look even).

10. Glue trim around circumference of pasties.

11. To attach a tassel, take the needle and pierce the tip of your cone from the inside. Thread your tassel string through the needle and pull your needle through the hole from the outside. Cut the loop, tie a knot, and dab with glue.

12. Apply pasties with liquid latex or eyelash glue.

Then take ’em out for a spin. Please feel free to ask questions

The stir

Still learning to blog by iPad bare with me my lovelies. I thought blogs were to share you experiences in life. I do not hate anyone I just do not have time for vindictive bullshit I got a bunch of angry or bitchy messages from Sophie before I even blogged about her. before the shit hit the fan at shit stir city.the point I’m trying to make is she messaged me on purpose to get a reaction and she did more than she bargained for. My journey is exactly how it implies my journey I questioned people’s racial loyalty because what makes her so much believable then me you guys are being gas lighted and cannot seem to see it. I have not set eyes on Sophie since 2010 and she was blocked until a few months ago. I was not aware she was even performing until Susan bought over a show flier and even that was a while ago. So don’t judge me unless you know me. My point on race is maybe it is easier to listen to lies from disgruntled members that are Caucasian then to actually walk in my shoes or even try contacting me to hear my side all pointless now. I will never stop performing and that is all.

My journey

Im Lilith founder of evolution of Burlesque: obsession with burlesque began in late 2009 I was completely “astounded” to see multiple women of color thrive in there Genre. I found it invigorating and “exciting” it completely blew my mind! So day by day I searched and searched and I came across this explosively dynamic performer Perle Noire. Next in line was jeeze Loueez peeling and tap dancing at the same time. I thought this is it I can soooooo do this So I began to research the local burlesque scene I found all the local burlesque troupes Sensation burlesque,The Kansas City society of burlesque, and Bees knees burlesque,KC.cabaret and let’s not forget Bdu. I inquired about joining there respective troupes and how to become a performer in the community.I did not understand then why my questions seem to have fallen on deaf ears. but I understand now the reason was because as performer they get thousands of request to join there troupe. So my point is I started my own troupe because I felt the k.c burly community lacked diversity and it did.The 1 or 2 performers with a diverse cultural background were hardly featured in mainstream shows and I wanted to change that.
